Why order this $5 Gold 2019-W Apollo 11 50th Anniversary Commemorative Proof?

2019 marks the 50th anniversary of man's first walk on the moon. The U.S Mint is commemorating the occasion with seven coins, which are just the second set of domed coins issued by the mint. This Silver Dollar Proof is among them. The coin was struck from 26.73 g of .999 fine silver at the Philadelphia Mint, which is represented by a "P" mint mark. Along with its uncirculated counterpart, this coin is part of a joint mintage of 400,000 pieces. The coin is perfect for patriotic collectors, those with an interest in space exploration, and anyone looking for inspiration as they work toward a major goal.

Striking Lunar Surface Design by Phebe Hemphill

The obverse features Gary Cooper's design, which was sculpted by Joseph Menna. A single footprint in the lunar surface beautifully encapsulates Neil Armstrong's famous quote, "That's one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind." Along the rim at the top are four images of the moon in different phases and the names of the three NASA programs that made the lunar landing possible, "MERCURY," "GEMINI," and "APOLLO." The date, "2019," and national motto, "IN GOD WE TRUST," are among other inscriptions on this face.

Phebe Hemphill both designed and sculpted the reverse, which features an image taken from a photograph that was snapped on the surface of the moon. The shape of Buzz Aldrin's helmet is captured by the convex design. The bulk of that helmet is the visor, which reflects Neil Armstrong standing with the American flag to one side and the lunar module to the other. The coin's face value, "ONE DOLLAR," is inscribed within the visor, while "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" and "E PLURIBUS UNUM" (From many, one) are inscribed above and below the visor, respectively.

It received the grading company's highest grade, Proof 70, which is given only to coins that are in perfect condition as seen under 5x magnification.
