Why buy this Enhanced Finish High Relief 2019-W $100 American Gold Specimen Liberty?
This High Relief American Gold Liberty is the second such coin issued. The first was released in 2015 and was the first ever $100 coin issued by the United States. The coin features stunning patriotic designs from two of the giants of modern numismatics. Mintage of the coin has been capped at just 50,000 pieces. Each one has been struck from 1 oz of .9999 fine gold at the West Point Mint. That mint is represented by its "W" mint mark, which appears on the left side of the reverse. The coin will arrive in its original packaging from the US Mint.
Patriotic Eagle Design by Donna Weaver
The obverse features a design that was created by Richard Masters. Masters shows Liberty in left-side profile. She has long hair and wears a headdress, from which thirteen rays of light emanate. Her name, "LIBERTY," is inscribed on the rim among those rays. Thirteen stars represent the original states along the rim. Other inscriptions on this face include the date, "2019," and the national motto, "IN GOD WE TRUST."
The reverse bears an eagle design by Donna Weaver. It shows an eagle with its talons open as it prepares to land. Just under it are inscriptions of the coin's face value, "$100," and thee motto "E PLURIBUS UNUM" (From many, one). "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" is inscribed along the rim, while another inscription just inside it offers the coin's weight and purity, "1 OZ. .9999 FINE GOLD."
