Why buy this 2019-W $100 American 1 oz Platinum Eagle Liberty Proof?
Share in the US Mint's celebration of one of America's founding documents with this 2019-W Platinum Eagle Proof. This coin is the second of three in a series that celebrates the rights specifically mentioned in the Declaration of Independence. That mini-series is within the Proof Platinum Eagle Series, which dates back to 1997. This coin bears the "W" mint mark of the West Point Mint, where it was struck on a one ounce planchet of .9995 fine platinum.
Exquisite Liberty Design by Justin Kunz
Justin Kunz's obverse design is a powerful representation of the figure of Liberty that has long dominated America's coinage. Liberty stands facing the holder with her torch, a representation of the guiding light of freedom, in her right hand, and a book, which represents the rule of law, in her left. Unlike most other depictions of Liberty, this one shows her with her mouth open, a representation of free speech. She overlooks America's wilderness, including lakes, mountains, and prairies, which represent not only America's exploration of new territories, but also her exploration of new ideas and ways of life. Next to Liberty the word "LIBERTY" is inscribed in cursive just as it appears on America's founding document.
On the reverse, an eagle carries an olive branch in flight. The design by Patricia Lucas-Morris, which is common to all three coins in this three-piece series, is joined by inscriptions of the coin's face value, "$100," its weight, "1 OZ.," and its purity, ".9995 PLATINUM."
Perfect PF70 UC FR with Black Core Holder
Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC) set this coin in a black core holder, which many collectors prefer to the more traditional white, on account of its sharper contrast with the coin. The grading company awarded this piece their highest grade, Proof 70 (PF70), which is reserved for coins that are in perfect condition as seen under 5x magnification. NGC further certified the coin First Releases (FR), which indicates that it was received within 30 days of its initial mint release, and Ultra Cameo (UC), a designation that indicates that a coin bears a particularly sharp contrasts between frosted devices and mirrored fields.

When it comes to modern U.S. coins, rarity as defined solely by a coin’s mintage usually matters less than the rarity of a particular coin relative to the other coins in its series.
Here are arguably the five top examples of modern U.S coins that are likely to remain in demand indefinitely and in most cases may remain the key date coins within their respective series.
The United States Mint has released the second of three coins in the Preamble to the Declaration of Independence Platinum Proof Series. While the 2018 issue honored the inalienable right of Life, as outlined in the Declaration of Independence, this second release honors Liberty.
