Why order this $50 American 2019-W 1 oz Gold Eagle Proof?
For more than three decades, Gold Eagle Proofs have provided collectors with the opportunity to admire the most beautiful design in the rich history of American numismatics. This latest edition is perfect for long-time collectors of the series, as well as those who want their first proof in this iconic series. This piece bears the "W" Mint mark of the West Point Mint, where it was struck from one ounce of .9167 fine gold.
Historic Saint-Gaudens Design by Augustus Saint-Gaudens
Liberty stands confidently facing the holder on the obverse in a design that Augustus Saint-Gaudens originally designed for the double eagle. She has one foot elevated upon a rock as her long hair blows freely in the wind. She holds two powerful symbols, her torch, which represents freedom, and an olive branch, which represents peace. The Capitol Dome is to the left, and the rays of the morning sun spread outward and upward behind her. Along the rim are fifty stars, four more than appeared on the original design.
A family of eagles features on Miley Busiek's reverse. A male eagle returns to his nest carrying an olive branch. His mate watches his return as she tends to their nestlings. Several inscriptions spread throughout the remaining space on this face, including the coin's weight, "1 OZ. FINE GOLD" and face value, "50 DOLLARS."
Impeccable PF70 FR Washington, D.C. with Black Core Holder and Mercanti Signed Label
Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC) set this coin in a beautiful black core holder and provided its grading information on a label that was signed by John Mercanti, former Chief Engraver of the US Mint. That information includes a Proof 70 grade, which indicates that the coin is flawless as seen under 5x magnification, and First Releases certification, which means that it was submitted for grading no more than 30 days after the coin was first released from the mint. The label also indicates that this coin was picked up at the U.S Mint Headquarters in Washington D.C.
