Why add this $50 2019-W Burnished American Gold Eagle to your collection?
The Gold Eagle coin with a burnished finish was added to the U.S. Mint's American Eagle Bullion Program in 2006 to commemorate the series' 20th Anniversary. The coin has been annually released each year since, with the exception of 2009-2010. Struck from 1 Troy oz. of .9167 fine gold at the West Point Mint, this 2019 Burnished Gold Eagle carries a "W" Mint mark, similar to the proof version. The United States Mint has a mintage limit of 10,000 coins.
Breathtaking Gold Eagle Imagery
The obverse depicts Lady Liberty striding forward with rays of the rising sun behind her, holding a torch in her right hand and an olive branch in her left, with "LIBERTY" curving above. Additional inscriptions include "2019" and "W." The design replicates the popular $20 Gold Double Eagle introduced in 1907 designed by Augustus Saint-Gaudens.
Featured on the reverse is a wilderness scene, which illustrates an eagle carrying an olive branch to his nesting family. The design is credited to Miley Busiek.
