Why add this $50 American 2019-W 1 oz Burnished Gold Eagle to your collection?
The Burnished Gold Eagle debuted in 2006, the 20th anniversary of the bullion Gold Eagle. It has attracted a small, but dedicated group of collectors who appreciate this unique way to view the classic designs of the Gold Eagle series. the coin bears the "W" mint mark of the West Point Mint, where it was struck on a 1 oz planchet of .9167 fine gold.
Stunning Liberty Design by Augustus Saint-Gaudens
Augustus Saint-Gaudens created the obverse design for the double eagle, where it appeared from 1907-1933. Liberty stands at the center facing the holder with her torch, a symbol of freedom, in her right hand and an olive branch, a symbol of peace, in her left. The rays of the morning sun spread out behind her, making her appear larger than life. She is joined by the Capitol Dome, as well as fifty stars, which line the rim. The original design had just forty-six stars, but new ones have been added to account for states that have since joined the union.
The reverse design by Miley Busiek honors the national bird. Created for the debut of the Gold Eagle, it features a male eagle carrying an olive branch back to his family, which waits in their nest. "1 OZ. FINE GOLD" and "50 DOLLARS" are among several inscriptions on this face.
