Why buy this $50 American 2019-W 1 oz Burnished Gold Eagle?
Take a fresh look at the historic Saint-Gaudens design with this Burnished Gold Eagle. The coin bears the same designs of its bullion counterpart. It was the bullion coin's 20th anniversary that saw the first ever burnished releases. Today, a small but fervent group of collectors consider each new burnished issue a 'must have.' Struck from 1 oz of .9167 fine gold, this piece bears the "W' mint mark of the West Point Mint.
Iconic Liberty Design by Augustus Saint-Gaudens
Liberty stands at the center of the obverse facing the holder in the design, which was slightly adapted from the double eagle design of Augustus Saint-Gaudens. She holds her torch in her right hand and an olive branch in her left as the rays of the morning sun spread out behind her. The image also includes a miniature rendering of the Capitol Dome and a circle of fifty stars along the rim. The original design included just forty-six stars, and four states have since joined the union.
Miley Busiek designed the reverse for the debut of the Gold Eagle series in 1986. Celebrating the national bird, it features a male eagle bringing an olive branch back to his family, which waits in their nest. Several inscriptions are also included on this face, including but not limited to "1 OZ. FINE GOLD" and "IN GOD WE TRUST."
