Striking Peace and Friendship Design by John Reich
The obverse features a right-side portrait of President John Quincy Adams. The image was designed and sculpted by Moritz Furst. It is encircled by inscriptions of the figure's name and title, "JOHN QUINCY ADAMS PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES," and the date that he took office, "1825."
John Reich's Peace and Friendship design is on the reverse. The design's name, "PEACE AND FRIENDSHIP," is interspersed with the design itself. The top portion of the design, which celebrates friendship between the United States and Native Americans, consists of a crossed peace pipe and tomahawk. The bottom portion consists of two hands shaking. The wrist of the one that represents the United States is covered by a cuff on which there are three stripes and buttons. The wrist of the hand representing Native Americans is bare.

Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC) certified that this medal is in GEM Uncirculated condition, which means that it was well struck. The grading company also certified the piece Early Releases, a designation given to pieces that were submitted for grading no more than 30 days after their initial release from the mint.
