The Krugerrand coins issued by South Africa are quite well-known around the world. From 1967 through 2016 they were only offered in gold. The Silver Krugerrand was introduced in 2017 in a premium uncirculated finish with a bullion silver version following the next year. This 2019 1 oz. Silver Krugerrand has a proof finish, it was struck by the South African Mint. This coin is limited to a mintage of 20,000 pieces.
Paul Kruger Obverse
The finely detailed portrait on the obverse shows Paul Kruger, who served as the first President of South Africa. These coins are actually named after Kruger. The country of issue is also inscribed on this side in English and Afrikaans.
The word "KRUGERRAND" can be seen at the top of the reverse. The design on this side shows a springbok prancing across the scene. The date is split around the springbok. The inscriptions at the bottom of the design state the silver weight and face value.
