Why order this 2019 R1 South Africa 1 oz Silver Krugerrand?
The South African Mint issued its first Gold Krugerrand in 1967. In the ensuing decades, the coin's simple elegance made it a top choice among collectors throughout the world. The mint issued a premium uncirculated Silver Kurgerrand to mark its 50th anniversary in 2017, and that coin's popularity led to the first ever silver bullion Krugerrand in 2018. Now, you can share in the rich tradition with this piece, which comes from just the second bullion issue of the coin. Like its predecessor, this piece was issued by the South African Mint on a one ounce planchet of .999 fine silver.
Classic Paul Kruger Design by Otto Schultz
Otto Schultz created the obverse design in 1984. It depicts the South African Republic's third president, Otto Schultz, in left-side profile. He bears a stern countenance and has a long beard. Inscriptions of the country's name are included along the rim in Afrikaans, "SUID-AFRIKA," and English, "SOUTH AFRICA."
A graceful springbok antelope bounds across the savanna on Coert Steynberg's reverse. So closely associated is the animal with the country that people often refer to South Africa's national teams as "the Springboks." The date, "2019," is split to either side of the creature, and the coin's name, "KRUGERRAND," is inscribed above it. At the bottom are inscriptions of the coin's weight in Afrikaans and English, "FYNSILWER 1 OZ FINE SILVER," and its face value, "R1."
Impeccable MS70 FR with South African Flag Label
Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC) provided this coin's grading information on a label that bears the South African flag. The information includes the company's highest grade, Mint State 70, which indicates that the coin is in perfect condition as seen under 5x magnification, and First Releases certification, which means that it was received by NGC within 30 days of the coin's initial mint release.
