Why order this 2019 5 oz. Silver America the Beautiful San Antonio Missions Historical Park? This latest issue in the America the Beautiful Series takes collectors to one of Texas's oldest cities. It honors the San Antonio Missions, which began the establishment of the city as it exists today. The coin provides collectors with a great opportunity to start or grow an America the Beautiful collection, or simply own a piece that celebrates the start of one of America's great cities. The coin was struck from 5 oz. of .999 fine silver. Exquisite Missions Design by Chris CostelloThis coin shares a common obverse with other issues in the America the Beautiful Series. A left-side portrait of President George Washington appears in the center, just as it has on the country's quarters since 1932. The image was designed by John Flanagan. "LIBERTY" and "IN GOD WE TRUST" are inscribed to the left and right of the effigy, while "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" and "QUARTER DOLLAR" are inscribed above and below it, respectively. Joe Menna sculpted Chris Costello's reverse design. In a tribute to the Spanish Colonial Real, it is divided into quadrants. Each quadrant bears designs that celebrate an aspect of the missions. From the upper left clockwise, they are arches and a bell, a lion rampant, the San Antonio River, and wheat. They represent community, Spanish heritage, natural resources and irrigation, and farming, respectively. A rim frame encircles the image. It bears four inscriptions, including "SAN ANTONIO MISSIONS" and "TEXAS." Virtually Flawless MS69 DMPL FS with Exclusive Mercanti Signed LabelThis coin earned Professional Coin Grading Service's (PCGS's) second highest grade, Mint State 69, which means that it appears perfect to the unaided eye. It was also certified Deep-Mirror Prooflike and First Strikes. DMPL means that a business strike has mirrored fields, a gorgeous addition to any collection, while FS pieces were submitted for grading within 30 days of their mint release dates. Additionally, the coin will be encapsulated with an exclusive hand-signed label by John Mercanti, the former U.S. Mint Chief Engraver who designed over 100 coins and medals during his employment with the Mint.
