The 30.61 mm diameter clad proof coin is struck at the San Francisco Mint, its mintage limited to 750,000 along with its Uncirculated counterpart.
Designs Symbolizing the Legion's Dedication to Youth
The obverse image designed by Richard Masters and Phebe Hemphill depicts a pair of children as they declare "I PLEDGE ALLEGIANCE TO THE FLAG..." The inspirational design is surrounded by the additional inscriptions "LIBERTY," "2019" and "IN GOD WE TRUST."
The reverse features an American flag on a pole from a child's perspective, with the emblem of the American Legion above and the completion of the obverse phrase "...OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" below. Also designed by Masters, the image is sculpted by Joseph Menna and includes the inscriptions "E PLURIBUS UNUM," "HALF DOLLAR" and "S."
