100th Anniversary of the American Legion
The obverse features two children, hands over their hearts, reciting the Pledge of Allegiance. The little girl appears wearing an American Legion hat. The obverse design is the work of U.S. Mint sculptor-engraver Phebe Hemphill and Artistic Infusion Program designer Richard Masters. The reverse features the American Flag atop a flag pole, as seen looking up from ground view. Over the flag is the iconic American Legion emblem. The U.S. Mint's 13th Chief Engraver, sculptor Joseph Menna and designer Richard Masters of the Mint's Artistic Infusion Program are responsible for the reverse design.
Gem Proof and attractive OGP
Gem Proof means that the coin was struck to Proof quality with polished dies and planchets. This process produces the highest quality finish in Numismatics. Gem refers to the fact that the coin would get a numerical grade of Proof 65 or higher. It includes a highly attractive Government clam shell style presentation box, the original mint capsule and a certificate of authenticity.
