Why buy this 4-Coin 2019-S American Innovation Dollar Proof Set?In 2018, the US Mint released the introductory coin of the new American Innovation Dollar Series. The series celebrates some of the many contributions that Americans have made through invention and innovation, as well as some of the inventors and innovators who brought them about. Each state, the District of Colombia, and the five American territories will have a coin in the series. This first year of regular issue consists of four coins, which represent Delaware, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Georgia. Powerful Statue of Liberty Design by Justin KunzAll four coins in this set - and all coins in this series - share a common obverse. Designed by Justin Kunz, it features the Statue of Liberty shown at an angle. She holds her torch high, and the negative space in the background gives the holder a view similar to the one they would have seeing her in real life. The national motto, "IN GOD WE TRUST," is inscribed in the lower left, while the coin's face value, "$1," is on the right. A gear wheel privy mark has been added to the original design for these 2019 and future issues. It appears under the national motto. The reverses of each coin are unique. The first issue in the series honors Annie Jump Cannon of Delaware, whose work continues to be an important contribution to star classification. She is depicted in silhouette against a night sky. The second coin, Pennsylvania's entry, features a microscope and a polio virus, a reference to the development of the polio vaccine. Thomas Edison's light bulb features on the fourth coin, New Jersey's entry. It is perhaps the most famous invention in American history. The final coin, Georgia's entry, honors Trustee's Garden, an 18th century facility that, though short-lived, laid the foundation for American innovation in the field of botany. The design consists of a hand planting seeds. Virtually Flawless PF69 ER with American Innovation LabelsAll four coins in this set earned Numismatic Guaranty Corporation's (NGC's) second highest grade, Proof 69.
