Why order this 1 oz Silver 2019-S American Eagle Proof?
Share in the rich tradition of the Silver Eagle with this Proof. Its stunning finish serves to bring out every detail of one of the most beloved designs in the history of American numismatics. Released at the Chicago ANA Show, the coin bears the "S" mint mark of the San Francisco Mint. It was struck there on a 1 oz planchet of .999 fine silver.
Featuring Adolph Weinman's Famous Walking Liberty Design
One of the most famous designs in the history of American numismatics, Adolph Weinman's Walking Liberty, features on the obverse. It was revived for Silver Eagles in 1986 after first appearing on half dollars from 1916-1947. The image depicts Liberty striding to the left with branches of laurel and oak in her left hand. The branches symbolize civilian and military honors. Draped in the American flag and wearing a Phrygian cap on her head, she extends her right hand in front of her above the morning sun, as though welcoming the new day. "LIBERTY" is inscribed on the rim at the top, while the national motto, "IN GOD WE TRUST," and the date, "2019," also appear on this face.
Rim inscriptions encircle an adaptation of the Great Seal of the United States on John Mercanti's reverse. The inscriptions read, "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," "1 OZ. FINE SILVER," and "ONE DOLLAR." The adaptation of the seal shows an eagle guarding a unions shield under thirteen stars. The stars symbolize the original states. In its beak, the bird holds a ribbon with the inscription "E PLURIBUS UNUM" (From many, one). In its talons are arrows, symbols of America's military readiness, and an olive branch, which indicates a desire for peace.
Nearly Perfect PF69 UC Chicago ANA Show Releases
According to the experts at Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC), this coin appears perfect to the unaided eye. That is why the company awarded it their second highest grade, Proof 69. They also certified it Ultra Cameo, a designation that means that a coin bears particularly sharp contrasts between heavily frosted devices and deeply mirrored fields. Finally, NGC labeled the piece Chicago ANA Show Releases, meaning that this coin was made available at the show.
