The Fast Track to Success

PJ Washington, Jr. was a five-star recruit coming out of high school. He earned McDonald’s All-American honors in his senior year and went on to play at the University of Kentucky. In his sophomore year, Washington was named a third-team All-American and first-team All-SEC. On the strength of that performance, he decided to forego his last two years of college and enter the 2019 NBA Draft.

The Charlotte Hornets selected Washington twelfth overall. He remains with the team today. He was named second-team All-Rookie in 2020. Washington was a regular starter in his first two NBA seasons, but he came off the bench in more than half of his team’s games in the 2021-2022 season. He is averaging 11.8 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 2.3 assists over his three years in the league.
