Why order this 5 oz. Silver 2019-P Specimen America the Beautiful Lowell National Historic Park?

Since its inception in 2010, the America the Beautiful Series has given collectors the opportunity to see many of America’s National Parks as well as add a little piece of them to their coin collection. While most of the issues focus on natural scenery, a few honor significant cultural events and sites. This Lowell National Historic Park is one such coin. It honors the “Mill Girls,” who worked in Lowell’s mills for cash wages. They were known for their social activism in seeking better working conditions and supporting abolition. Struck from 5 oz of .999 fine silver at the Philadelphia Mint, the coin bears the “P” mint mark of the Philadelphia Mint.

Intriguing Mill Girl Design by Joel Iskowitz

Like other coins in the America the Beautiful Series, this one features John Flanagan’s 1932 portrait of President George Washington on the obverse. The image has featured on American quarters for nearly a century. It is joined by several inscriptions, including “IN GOD WE TRUST” and “QUARTER DOLLAR.

Joel Iskowitz designed and Phebe Hemphill sculpted the reverse image. One of the Mill Girls is depicted working on a power loom, which is powered by a circular bobbin battery. The Boott Mill clock tower rises in the background. “LOWELL” and “MASSACHUSETTS” are among four inscriptions on the rim frame.

Virtually Flawless SP69 FR with America’s National Treasures Label

Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC) awarded this piece its second highest grade, Specimen 69. A grade must appear flawless to the naked eye to receive that grade. NGC also certified it First Releases, a designation that indicates that a coin was submitted for grading no more than 30 days after its initial release from the mint. This information is provided on a label that celebrates America’s National Treasures.
