Why buy this 1 oz Silver 2019-P $1 Australia Kangaroo?
The Perth Mint brings Australia's most famous animal to collectors in silver for the fourth consecutive year with this 2019 Kangaroo. The series was long awaited by collectors throughout the world, and it has not disappointed since its inception in 2016. It was struck from one ounce of .9999 fine silver and bears its issuing mint's famous "P" mint mark, which is recognized as a sign of outstanding quality by collectors throughout the world.
Powerful Red Kangaroo Design by Dr. Stuart Devlin
The obverse features a new portrait of Queen Elizabeth II by British Royal Mint designer Jody Clark. The new design replaces Iran Rank-Broadley's, which was used for over two decades on Australian coinage. It incorporates the Queen's shoulders and shows her in right-side profile wearing her Royal Diamond Diadem, the same piece that she wore at her coronation. Her name, "ELIZABETH II," joins "AUSTRALIA" and "1 DOLLAR" on the rim.
Dr. Stuart Devlin's red kangaroo design is at the center of the reverse. Devlin captures the animal's power by showing it in full bound, with its feet stretched downward and its tail extended behind it. His background image of radiating lines is a symbol of Australia's hot sun. Rim inscriptions read, "AUSTRALIAN KANGAROO" at the top and "2019 1 OZ 9999 SILVER" at the bottom.
