Why buy this 2019-P $2 Australia Shaped 2 oz Silver Antique Figure Eight Koi Fish Figure Eight?
The Perth Mint continues its rich tradition of coins that honor Chinese symbols and culture with this 2 oz Koi Fish. Koi fish represent perseverance and strength of purpose in Eastern culture on account of their ability to swim upstream, while the number 8 represents luck. The coin's mintage, 3,888, pays further tribute to this theme. Each coin in the mintage has been individually antiqued by hand, giving each coin a slightly different look. Struck from 2 oz of .9999 fine silver, this coin bears the "P" mint mark of the Perth Mint at the bottom of its reverse.
Stuning Koi Design by Ing Ing Jong
At the center of the reverse is a right-side portrait of Queen Elizabeth II by Jody Clark. Inscriptions along the rim offer essential information about the coin. "ELIZABETH II" and "AUSTRALIA" are inscribed on the top half of the 8, while "2 OZ 9999 AG," "2019," and "2 DOLLARS" are included on the bottom half of it.
On Ing Ing Jong's reverse design, two koi fish swim upstream. Jong executes the design, which also includes a lotus flower, in fine detail.
