Why add this 2019 Echoes of Australian Fauna: Tasmanian Tiger 1 oz. Silver GEM Proof coin to your collection?

The thylacine, commonly known as the Tasmanian Tiger, is featured on the first release of the three-coin Echoes of Australian Fauna series produced by the Royal Australian Mint. The series memorializes extraordinary extinct and endangered nocturnal species native to Australia. This black nickel plated 2019 Tasmanian Tiger proof is struck from 1 Troy oz. of .999 fine silver with dramatic selective gold plated details. Mintage of the 40 mm diameter proof is limited to only 5,000 coins.

Sensational Design Details

A Tasmanian Tiger is depicted on the reverse, its gilded standing form exquisitely contrasted against the surrounding black nickel plated forest scene. Inscribed "TASMANIAN TIGER" below.

The likeness of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II created by sculptor Ian Rank-Broadley adorns the obverse. Inscriptions include "ELIZABETH II," "AUSTRALIA 2019" and "5 DOLLARS."

Better in Person
This is a gorgeous coin that looks so much better in person than in the photographs. Due to the high price this obviously is a "collectible" and not a bullion coin; but the low mintage offsets the steep premium for a silver coin. Very similar in design to the Canadian coins "Nocturnal by Nature" series. MCM price of $99.95 (including free shipping) is comparable to the best prices I have seen on the internet from other vendors. Many are actually much higher for the same item. (APMEX, for example, wants $179.99 for the exact same coin!)
