Why purchase this 2019-P $1 Australian 1 oz Silver Koala?
The Australian Koala series started in 2007 and has since attracted tremendous interest from collectors throughout the world. The coin has a lower mintage than its older counterpart, the Kookaburra, with just 300,000 to be made for 2019. As is the case with the Kook, the reverse image changes every year, lending an added level of scarcity to each new issue. Each coin was struck from one ounce of .9999 fine silver and includes both the Perth Mint's "P" mint mark and a micro-laser engraved letter in the reverse design. This is just the second four-nine fine issue in the series.
Adorable Koala Design
Ian Rank-Broadley's portrait of Queen Elizabeth II returns to the obverse yet again. The monarch is depicted in right-side profile wearing a tiara and earrings. Her name, "ELIZABETH II," is inscribed along the rim, as are the coin's country, "AUSTRALIA," and face value, "1 DOLLAR."
A Koala sits comfortably on the branch of a eucalyptus tree on the reverse. His shoulders are turned toward the right of the holder, but he faces to the holder's left. This gives the holder an excellent look at his face. The name of the coin, "AUSTRALIAN KOALA," is inscribed at the top of the rim frame, while the date, "2019," and the coin's weight and purity, "1 OZ 9999 SILVER," are included at the bottom of it.
