Why buy this 2019-P US Proof Apollo 11 50th Anniversary Commemorative Silver Dollar?

Share in the US Mint's celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing with this Commemorative Proof Silver Dollar. The moon landing was at once the greatest accomplishment in the history of exploration and a major American psychological victory during the Cold War. This piece is extra special thanks to the signature of an astronaut on the label. It bears the "P" mint mark of the Philadelphia Mint, where it was struck from 26.73 g of .999 fine silver.

Exquisite Reflection Design by Phebe Hemphill

Artwork by Gary Cooper won a contest to appear on the obverse design. Sculpted by Joseph Menna, it pays homage to the NASA programs that made the moon landing possible by including inscriptions of their names, "MERCURY," "GEMINI," and "APOLLO," on the rim at the top. Interspersed among them are images of the moon in different phases. Below is a single footprint on the surface of the moon, a simple yet powerful symbol of the achievement.

Phebe Hemphill's reverse design was inspired by a photograph of Buzz Aldrin on the moon. This convex face of the coin calls to mind the curvature of the visor of his space helmet, which dominates this face. The visor shows a reflection of Neil Armstrong standing on the moon. He is flanked by the American flag and the lunar module. Inscriptions on this face include "ONE DOLLAR,' "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," and "E PLURIBUS UNUM" (From many, one).

Flawless PF70 UC with Astronaut Scholarship Foundation Bobko Signed Label

Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC) agreed to make a donation to the Astronaut Scholarship Foundation for the signatures of former astronauts on certain labels. The label on which this coin's grading information is provided is part of that program. It was signed by Karol "Bo" Bobko, who signed the fewest labels of any participating astronaut, making this piece a scarcity. In fact, it is one of just 400 pieces to bear his signature. Bobko flew missions on three Space Shuttles, Challenger, Discovery, and Atlantis. The grading information on the label includes NGC's highest grade, Proof 70, which is reserved for coins that are perfect as seen under 5x magnification, as well as Ultra Cameo certification.

Don't miss your chance to own this US 2019-P 50th Anniversary Apollo 11 Commemorative Silver Dollar Proof.
