Why order this Apollo 11 50th Anniversary 2019-P Commemorative 5 oz Silver Dollar Proof?

Star gazers, patriots, and those looking for inspiration would all have reasons to appreciate this 5 oz. Silver Apollo 11 Commemorative Proof. The coin is one of seven issued by the US Mint to mark the 50th anniversary of America's visit to the moon. The event was both a seminal accomplishment in space exploration and a marquis victory in America's Space Race with the Soviet Union. These commemoratives are just the second set of domed coins ever issued by the US Mint. Struck from 5 oz. of .999 fine silver, this coin bears the "P" mint mark of the Philadelphia Mint. It is part of a mintage of 100,000 pieces.

Exquisite Footprint Design by Gary Cooper

The mint held a contest for the obverse design, and a submission by Gary Cooper emerged victorious. The design features a single footprint on the surface of the moon, a simple but powerful symbol of the visit. The names of the NASA programs that led up to the lunar landing, "MERCURY," "GEMINI," and "APOLLO," are inscribed along the top half of the rim along with depictions of the moon in various stages. "2019" and "IN GOD WE TRUST" are among the other obverse inscriptions.

Phebe Hemphill's reverse is convex to reflect the shape of the helmet of Buzz Aldrin's space suit. That helmet dominates this face. The image is taken from a famous photograph from the lunar visit and shows Neil Armstrong standing between the American flag and the lunar module on the moon's surface, as reflected in Aldrin's visor. Inscriptions on this face read, "ONE DOLLAR," "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," and "E PLURIBUS UNUM" (From many, one).
