Exceptional Commemorative Designs
Created by Paul C. Balan and Renata Gordon, the obverse is dominated by the American Legion's star emblem, accompanied by oak leaves and a lily, symbols known to represent strength, devotion and memory. Inscribed "LIBERTY," "IN GOD WE TRUST" and "2019."
The reverse features the inscription "100 YEARS OF SERVICE" between a fleur-de-lis and the crossed flags of the American Legion and the U.S. The design by Patricia Lucas-Morris and Michael Gaudioso is additionally inscribed "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," "1919," "2019," "E PLURIBUS UNUM" and "$1."
