To mark the 100th anniversary of the American Legion in 2019, the U.S. Mint has created a number of commemorative coins. This dollar is made of .999 fine silver. It has a brilliant uncirculated finish and was struck at the Philadelphia Mint. Mintage of these dollars is limited to 400,000 pieces between the proof and uncirculated versions.
Finely Detailed American Legion Designs
The design on the obverse shows a few oak branches along with a lily. The American Legion emblem is at the center of the design. The date is at the bottom near the lily.
The reverse depicts a folded United States flag next to a folded American Legion flag. The central portion of the design is inscribed with "100 YEARS OF SERVICE." The centennial anniversary dates can be found to the sides of the flags and this side also displays the "P" mintmark.
NGC Certified MS69
The Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC) was selected to grade this silver dollar. The experts there use a grading scale with a maximum of 70. Since this coin is almost perfect, it was assigned the grade of Mint State 69. This grade is relayed on an American Liberty Flag Label.
