Design Honors the American Legion's Founding
The obverse of the coin features the American Legion emblem. Acorns and leaves of oak and lily surround the Legion emblem. Sculptor Renata Gordon and designer Paul C. Balan executed the obverse design. The reverse design combines the iconic French Fleur de Lis shown above the crossed flagpoles holding America's Stars and Stripes and American Legion flags. The phrase "100 Years of Service." appears and marks the 100th Anniversary of the organization's founding in Paris. Sculptor Michael Gaudioso and Designer Patricia Lucas-Morris executed the reverse design.
