Why buy this 2019 Netherlands 1 oz Silver Lion Dollar Restrike Proof?

The Dutch played an important role in the growth of the Americas. Not only were they the first Europeans to lay claim to Manhattan, but they also struck the Daalder, which is widely considered America's first "dollar." The coin was struck in Utrecht, the Netherlands but was widely used in what is today the eastern United States. This piece incorporates elements of the original design and executes it with modern minting methods, providing collectors with a treat. Part of a mintage of just 5,000 pieces, this coin was struck at the Royal Dutch Mint from 1 oz of .9999 fine silver.

Powerful Lion Rampant Design

A Dutch Lion rampant dominates the obverse. The symbol, which shows the king of beasts menacingly brandishing its front claws while its tongue sticks out and its tail sticks up, has symbolized the nation for centuries. It is encircled by a rim frame in which there is a Latin inscription, "CONFIDENS DNO NON MOVETVR" (Belief in God is not moved).

A knight stands proudly on the reverse. Unlike most depictions of knights, this one shows him with his face visible. In front of him is a shield with the lion rampant. Like the obverse, the reverse has a rim frame with a Latin inscription. This one reads, "MO ARG PRO CON FOE BELG GEL" (Silver money of the Province of the Netherlands Confederation).

Impeccabble PF70 UC ER with COA, and Gold Foil Map - Lion Dollar Label

This coin received Numismatic Guaranty Corporation's (NGC's) highest grade, Proof 70, which is reserved exclusively for coins that appear perfect under 5x magnification. It was also certified Ultra Cameo and Early Releases. UC certification means that a coin has both heavily frosted devices and deeply mirrored fields, while ER is a designation given to coins that were submitted for grading within 30 days of their initial releases from the mint. This information comes provided on a gold foil label that bears an image of a map and celebrates the Lion Dollar. A certificate of authenticity also comes with this piece.
