Why purchase this 2019-Mo Mexico 1 oz Silver Libertad Proof?
The Proof Silver Libertad was first issued in 1983, one year after its bullion counterpart made its debut. Many collectors consider this their favorite series, with proofs standing out in particular for their low mintages. This coin is part of the latest issue in that tradition. Backed for weight and purity by Banco de Mexico, this piece was struck from 1 oz of .999 fine silver at the Mexican Mint, also known as the Casa de Moneda de Mexico. It bears that mint's unique "Mo" mint mark on the reverse.
Exquisite Winged Victory Design
The design at the center of the obverse comes from native Mexican religions. An eagle is perched upon a cactus as it consumes a snake. The image has been reinterpreted by Westerners as representing the victory of good over evil. It is encircled by historic Mexican coats of arms.
Winged Victory, a statue that stands in downtown Mexico City as a symbol of the country's independence, features on the reverse. The statue is flanked in the background by a pair of volcanoes, Popocatépetl and Iztaccíhuatl, which are named for lovers of pre-Colombian lore. Inscriptions along the top half of the rim read, from left to right, "1 ONZA PLATA PURA," "2019," and "LEY .999."
Flawless PF70 FR with Black Core Holder and Mexico Label
This coin is in perfect condition even as seen under 5x magnification, as evidenced by the Proof 70 grade that it received from Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC). It also received First Releases certification, which means that it was submitted to NGC no more than 30 days after its initial mint release. That information has been provided on a Mexico label, and the coin comes set in a black core holder.
