Why purchase this 2019-Mo Mexico 1 oz Proof Silver Libertad?
Collectors throughout the world have admired the Mexican Silver Libertad since the series began in 1982. Proofs were first issued the following year. Proofs in the series are highly sought after among collectors due not only to their stunning beauty, but also on account of their historically relatively low mintages. Struck from 1 oz of .999 fine silver, this Proof Libertad bears the unique "Mo" Mint mark of Casa de Moneda de Mexico (the Mexican Mint) on the reverse.
Powerful Winged Victory Design
The obverse consists of eleven Mexican coats of arms. The current one, which consists of an eagle eating a snake while perched on a cactus tree under the inscription "ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS" (United States of Mexico) is at the center. It is encircled by ten historic coats of arms.
Winged Victory dominates the foreground. A statue that represents Mexican independence in downtown Mexico City, the figure has wings that extend toward the edge, and her falling garment leaves her chest uncovered. In the distance, two volcanoes, Popocatépetl and Iztaccíhuatl, rise on either side of her. The names come from lovers in pre-Colombian legends, which is part of the reason that this series is especially popular among couples. Arching over these designs are inscriptions that offer the coin's weight, "1 ONZA PLATA PURA," date, "2019," and purity, "LEY .999."
Nearly Perfect PF69 FR with Mexico Label
Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC) awarded this coin a grade of Proof 69. The grade, the company's second highest, indicates that a coin appears flawless to the naked eye. NGC also credited the coin for being submitted for grading within 30 days of its initial release by labeling it first Releases. This information comes on a label that honors the issuing country.
