Why purchase this Mexican 2019-Mo 1 oz Gold Libertad Reverse Proof?
Own a piece of Mexican national pride with this exquisite 1 oz Reverse Proof Gold Libertad, which commemorates the 40th annual release of the series and is just the second time a Gold Reverse Proof Libertad was struck by the Mint. One of the collectible relatives of the popular bullion coin, this coin would take pride of place in countless collections. It is part of a mintage of just 500 pieces. The coin was struck at Casa de Moneda de Mexico and bears that mint's one of a kind "Mo" mint mark on the reverse.
Captivating Angel of Independence Design
Historical Mexican coats of arms spread throughout the outside of the obverse. They encircle the country's current coat of arms. An open wreath and the inscription "ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS" together form a circle around an eagle. The bird is perched upon a cactus as it consumes a rattlesnake. Although the design has its origins in ancient native religions, the design is typically understood by Westerners simply as a representation of good's triumph over evil.
At the center of the reverse is the Angel of Independence, a statue that stands atop a victory column in the issuing nation's capital. She spreads her wings and extends her right hand forward as her garment falls away, revealing her chest. She holds a broken chain, which symbolizes the country's break from Spain, in her left hand. Popocatepetl and Iztaccihuatl, two volcanoes, rise in the distance. The volcanoes are named for lovers of pre-Columbian lore, which creates appeal for the Libertad among couples who share the hobby. Inscriptions of the coin's weight, date, and purity arch over the image. Together, they read, "1 ONZA ORO PURO 2019 LEY .999."
