The obverse of this large coin is inscribed with "ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS" as part of the Mexican national coat of arms at the center of the design. This seal shows an eagle standing on top of a cactus with one leg while it fights a rattlesnake with its beak and other foot. The coat of arms at the center is the modern version, previous versions are depicted around it.
