A Lost LegendKobe Bryant was the sixth player in NBA history to enter the draft straight out of high school. He did so having earned first-team Parade All-American and McDonald's All-American honors, as well as being named Naismith Prep Player of the Year. The Los Angeles Lakers picked Bryant with the thirteen selection of the thirteen selection of the 1996 NBA Draft. He went on to be named 11-time All-NBA First Team, 9-time first-team NBA All-Defensive Team, and an 18-time All-Star. He won five NBA Championships and was twice named the Most Valuable Player of the Finals. Bryant also won two Olympic gold medals, one in 2008 and one in 2012. Bryant died in a helicopter crash with his daughter and seven others in 2020. He was elected to the Basketball Hall of Fame just a few months later.
