Why buy this 2019 £10 Great Britain 5 oz Silver 200th Anniversary Queen Victoria Proof?
The Royal Mint celebrates 200 years since the birth of Queen Victoria with this silver coin, which is perfect for collectors who admire the British Royal Family. Victoria became Queen in 1837 at the age of 18 and reigned until 1901. She is associated with the expansion of British industry and empire. Part of a mintage of just 800 pieces, this coin was struck on a 5 oz. planchet of .999 fine silver.
Iconic Queen Victoria and Prince Albert Design by William Wyon
A right-side portrait of the current reigning monarch, Queen Elizabeth II, graces the obverse. Clark shows the monarch wearing her Royal Diamond Diadem and earrings. Her name and abbreviated Latin title, "ELIZABETH II D G REG F D" (Elizabeth II, by the Grace of God, Queen Defender of the Faith), join the coin's date, "2019," and face value, "10 POUNDS," on the rim.
William Wyon, former Chief Engraver of the Royal Mint, designed the duel portrait of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert that features on the reverse. The two had a famous love story. The Queen's face slightly obscures the Prince's as both face left. They are joined by ya trident and dolphins, which represent Britain's naval power. The sovereign has dominion over all dolphins in British territorial waters. "VICTORIA REGINA + ALBERTUS PRINCEPS CONJUX" is inscribed along the top of the rim, while the year of Victoria's birth, 1819, is inscribed in Roman numerals at the bottom.
Nearly Perfect PF69 UC FR with Tower Bridge Label and Presentation Case
This coin comes in a wooden presentation case along with a storybook and certificate of authenticity from the Royal Mint. The coin has been graded Proof 69 by the experts at Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC), which means that it appears flawless to the naked eye. It has also been certified Ultra Cameo due to the sharp contrasts between heavily frosted devices and deeply mirrored fields on both faces. NGC also credited the coin for the fact that it was submitted for grading within 30 days of its initial mint release by labeling it First Releases. Grading information has been provided on a label that features Tower Bridge, a London landmark that was constructed during Victoria's reign.
