Why purchase this $1 Fiji 2019 1 oz Silver Ruthenium Plated Blackened Eagle Proof?
Fiji becomes the latest country to join in the eagle-themed coin boom with this Silver Ruthenium Plated Eagle Proof. The coin is also notable for its designer, Joel Iskowitz, who formerly designed coins a the U.S Mint, and who collaborated with a foreign mint to design this Eagle. The coin was struck at the Commonwealth Mint on a 1 oz planchet of .999 fine silver and blackened with selective ruthenium plating. It is part of a mintage of just 20,000 pieces, all of which are available exclusively from MCM. This piece will arrive in GEM Proof condition.
Exquisite Eagle Designs by Joel Iskowitz
Both faces of this coin bear eagle designs by Joel Iskowitz. The one on the obverse is a closeup of the bird, which faces left. It is joined by the Fijian coat of arms to the left and two inscriptions, "FIJI" and "2019," above.
The reverse shows the eagle swooping down toward its prey. The bird controls its descent with its wings spread while stretching its claws forward, preparing to snatch up its next meal. "ONE DOLLAR" is inscribed along the rim near the top of this face, while ".999 AG 1 OZ" provides the coin's weight and purity near the bottom.
