This 2019 China Shanhai Pass to Jiayu Pass 375th Anniversary 2-Medal UHR Set was struck by the China Mint. The medals received the grade of GEM Uncirculated from Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC). The two interlocking medals together weigh a total of 1 Kilo, are struck in exquisite Ultra High Relief and are comprised out of beautiful copper and brass. Originally struck for the mainland Chinese market, the set has not been available in the West until now.
Ming Dynasty Great Wall Design
The design featured on these interlocking medals depict a snake-like Dragon on one, and a corresponding representation of the "Ming Dynasty" section of the Great Wall of China, which was completed 375 years ago, on the other. This section of the Great Wall is a popular tourist spot and was named a Chinese National Cultural Site in 1961. The Shanhai Pass to Jiayu Pass is a major section of the Great Wall of China. It is located in Shanhaiguan District, Qinhuangdao, Hebei province.
