Why buy this EUR1.50 Austria 2019 1 oz Silver 825th Anniversary of the Austrian Mint Wiener Neustadt?
Share in the 825th anniversary of the Austrian Mint with this Silver Wiener Neustadt. This is the second of three issues in a series that celebrates the fascinating story of the founding of the mint. Preceded by a coin honoring Duke Leopold V and soon to be succeeded by a piece honoring Robin Hood, this coin honors the city that was founded with part of the ransom that Duke Leopold V charged England for the release of Richard the Lionheart. Part of a mintage of 100,000 pieces, this coin was struck from one ounce of .999 fine silver at the Vienna Mint.
Exquisite Burg Wiener Neustadt Design
The obverse, which is common to all three coins in the series, features a modern take on the official seal of Duke Leopold V. Dressed in full armor, Leopold holds his shield in one hand and his banner, which streams behind him, in the other. "REPUBLIK ?STERREICH" (Republic of Austria) arches over the image, while other inscriptions on this face offer the coin's face value, weight, and date.
On the reverse is Burg Wiener Neustadt, the castle built with part of the ransom that Leopold V received for King Richard. The proud fortress stands as an exceptional example of medieval architecture, complete with banners waving at the top of its towers.
Virtually Flawless MS69 with Exclusive Austria Label
This coin earned Numismatic Guaranty Corporation's (NGC's) second highest grade, Mint State 69, which means that it is in perfect condition as seen by the unaided eye. This information comes on a label that bears an Austrian flag and Castle Hochosterwitz.
