Powerful Astronaut on the Moon Design
The Pobjoy Mint's own portrait of Queen Elizabeth II features on the obverse. The monarch is depicted wearing her Royal Diamond Diadem, which she wore at her coronation, earrings, and a necklace. Three sets of inscriptions, "ELIZABETH II," "2019," and "ASCENSION ISLAND," arch over her along the rim.
The reverse features a patriotic image of an astronaut saluting as he faces the holder. Next to him is the American flag, which symbolized this major victory in the space race. The lunar module stands in the background, and the earth is visible in the distance. Also included in the design is NASA's logo. Rim inscriptions show the anniversary dates split by Neil Armstrong's famous first lunar quote, "1969 - ONE SMALL STEP FOR MAN, ONE GIANT LEAP FOR MANKIND - 2019." The coin's face value, "ONE CROWN," is at the bottom.
