Why purchase this $10 American 2019 1/4 oz Gold Eagle?
Share in the rich tradition of the American Gold Eagle series with this quarter ounce 2019 piece. The series began with the revival of an iconic design from numismatic history and continues to bring that same design to new and experienced collectors every year. Struck from a quarter ounce of .9167 fine gold, the $25 coin is the only one of the four that bears a face value that is not proportional to its weight, relative to the other three coins.
Patriotic Saint-Gaudens Design by Augustus Saint-Gaudens
Saint-Gaudens's obverse design debuted on the 1907 double eagle and remained there until 1933. It returned for this series in 1986. Liberty stands at the center with her left foot set upon a rock and her long hair and garment blowing in the wind. Facing the holder, she holds her torch of freedom in front of her and an olive branch off to her side. She is joined by the Capitol Dome, which is in the lower left. The rays of the morning sun extend outward from behind her, creating a breathtaking image. Along the rim are fifty stars, four more than were on the original design, representing the states.
The reverse features Miley Busiek's eagle family design. A male eagle returns to his nest with an olive branch. In the nest, his mate nestles their young as she watches his return. A variety of inscriptions spread throughout the space that remains. Among them are the coin's weight, "1/4 OZ. FINE GOLD," and face value, "10 DOLLARS."
Virtually Flawless MS69
This coin received Numismatic Guaranty Corporation's (NGC's) second highest grade, Mint State 69 (MS69). To receive that grade, a coin must not have any imperfections that are visible to the naked eye.
