Why purchase this 1/10 oz Gold 2019 $5 American Eagle?

The world's favorite bullion series continues with this 2019 1/10 oz. American Gold Eagle. The series has grown in popularity since its inception in 1986 thanks to its beautiful obverse design and the fact that it is backed for weight and purity by the US government. The coin is a fantastic choice for patriotic Americans not only because of its designs but also because it was struck at the West Point Mint, which is situated near the United States Military Academy. The coin was struck on a 1/10 oz. planchet of .9167 fine gold.

Classic Saint-Gaudens Design by Augustus Saint-Gaudens

The obverse design was adapted from the double eagle design of Augustus Saint-Gaudens, for whom it is named. Liberty stands facing the holder. Striking a confident pose in a strong wind, she has her left foot elevated upon a rock. She holds her torch, a globally recognized symbol of freedom, in front of her and an olive branch, a symbol of peace, off to her side. To the left is a miniature rendering of the Capitol Dome, which combines with the rays of the morning sun to make a backdrop that makes Liberty appear larger than life. This image is encircled by fifty stars on the rim, which represent the states. This is four more than were on the original design.

The reverse image was created by Miley Busiek specifically for this series. A male eagle carries an olive branch as he returns to his nest, where his mate nestles their young. Inscriptions on this face include but are not limited to the coin's weight, "1/10 OZ. FINE GOLD," and face value, "5 DOLLARS."

Flawless MS70 FR with Gold Foil Core

Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC) set this coin in a gold foil core, embracing the color of the piece. It also awarded the coin its highest grade, Mint State 70, which is only awarded to coins that appear perfect even when examined under 5x magnification.
