Why Choose This PF70 UC 2018 World War I Proof Silver Dollar and U.S. Marine Corps Medal Set with Bressett Signature Labels?
World War I, known as the Great War, was among the most significant periods in modern history and the U.S. Mint created a variety of pieces to mark the 100th anniversary of its conclusion and honor the millions of men and women who have served and continue to serve in the United States Armed Forces. The set offered here includes a proof World War I commemorative silver dollar and a proof U.S. Marine Corps medal.
Significant World War I and Marine Corps Designs
On the obverse of the silver dollar, a World War I soldier is depicted with a rifle, staring doggedly ahead. The anniversary dates can be found in the lower left portion of this highly detailed design which features twisted barbed wire. The obverse of the medal shows two Marines just after the Battle of Belleau Wood, one Marine kneels, paying respect to those who lost their lives, while another Marine protects hims.
The Silver Dollar reverse features poppy flowers growing through barbed wire, a symbol adopted to represent World War 1, and those who lost their lives. The reverse of the medal shows the World War I version of the Marine Corps insignia, a cool, vintage, symbol of the role of the Marine Core in the Great War.
