Why order this 2018-W American Proof Silver Eagle?
This American 2018-W Proof Silver Eagle is the latest issue of the proof counterpart of the world's most popular bullion coin. The series began in 1986. This coin was struck from .999 fine silver, as is the bullion coin, but unlike the bullion version bears the "W" Mint mark of the West Point Mint.
Traditional Walking Liberty Design by Adolph Weinman
Adolph Weinman's Walking Liberty design, which was on the half dollar from 1916-1947, was brought back for the Silver Eagle when the series began in 1986. Liberty is draped in the American flag and wears a Phrygian cap on her head. She extends her right hand above the rising sun while carrying branches in her left hand.
On the reverse is John Mercanti's adaptation of the Great Seal of the United States. An eagle guards a union shield under thirteen stars, which represent the original states. In the bird's beak is a ribbon that bears the phrase "E PLURIBUS UNUM" (From many, one), while in its talons are arrows and an olive branch.
