Why purchase this First Strike 2018-W Burnished American Silver Eagle?
The U.S. Mint celebrated the 20th Anniversary of their American Silver Eagle series in 2006 with the release of a burnished variety of the coin featuring a smooth satin-like surface, described by the Mint as an uncirculated finish. This Burnished 2018-W Silver Eagle was struck at the West Point Mint from 1 Troy oz. of .999 fine silver.
Designs Featuring the Artistry of Adolph A. Weinman and John Mercanti
Lady Liberty is depicted on the obverse, replicating Weinman's design for the 1916 Walking Liberty Half Dollar. The lovely lady is elegantly portrayed walking toward the rising sun carrying a bouquet of oak and laurel branches while draped in the American flag. Inscribed "LIBERTY," "IN GOD WE TRUST," and "2018."
The reverse design by Mercanti features a heraldic eagle clutching an olive branch and arrows behind a striped shield, an image inspired by the Great Seal of the United States. Inscriptions include "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," "1 OZ. FINE SILVER," "ONE DOLLAR," "W" and "E PLURIBUS UNUM."
