Why add the 2018-W Burnished American Silver Eagle NGC MS70 FDI Black Core Holder to your collection?
This 2018-W Burnished American Silver Eagle achieved the high collector grade of Mint State 70 (MS70) from Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC). It also qualified for the First Day of Issue (FDI) designation and features the collectible NGC Black Core Holder. The coin was struck at the West Point Mint and Bullion Depository on a 1 oz. .999 fine silver round. The series is one of the most popular silver issues and has been since 1986 when it was introduced.
Obverse image of Liberty
The image on the obverse of the coin first appeared on the Walking Liberty Half designed by Adolph A. Weinman. The Goddess Liberty is shown walking confidently over a rough landscape. The reverse of the coin features an original design made specifically for this series by John M. Mercanti. A Bald Eagle is shown protected behind a shield. The eagle clutches arrows and an olive branch in his talons. An inverted triangle made of thirteen stars appears overhead.
Perfect Burnished MS70 example
The planchets used to achieve the "Burnished" finish are polished prior to being struck. An MS70 graded example is well struck, lustrous and is flawless when examined under magnification. This coin was encapsulated in the visually stunning Black Core Holder from NGC and features the FDI designation.
