Why purchase this First Day of Issue 2018-W Burnished American Silver Eagle with a hand-signed label?
The U.S. Mint expanded its American Silver Eagle series in 2006 with the addition of an Uncirculated collector's edition of the coin. The Uncirculated version features the same patriotic designs created by Adolph A. Weinman and John Mercanti as the Bullion and Proof coins, struck on specially burnished blanks, resulting in a gorgeous, satiny finish. This 2018-W Burnished Silver Eagle was produced by the West Point Mint, struck from 1 Troy oz. of .999 fine silver with a "W" Mint mark.
Timeless Silver Eagle Imagery
The 1916 Walking Liberty Half Dollar design by Weinman is featured on the obverse. Inscribed "LIBERTY," "2018" and "IN GOD WE TRUST."
Mercanti's reverse design depicts a heraldic eagle with thirteen stars above, surrounded by the inscriptions "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," "1 OZ. FINE SILVER," "ONE DOLLAR," "W" and "E PLURIBUS UNUM."
Immaculate Mint State 70 with John Mercanti Signed First Day of Issue Label
This 2018-W Burnished American Silver Eagle, earning a perfect Mint State 70 grade, was submitted to Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC) for grading within the first twenty-four hours of its May 24, 2018 date of release. The coin is sealed in an NGC Black Core protective holder accompanied by a coveted First Day of Issue label.
