Why Choose This MS70 Early Releases 2018-W Burnished Silver Eagle with a Black Core Slab and a West Point Silver Star Label?
While the American Silver Eagle has been issued by the U.S. Mint since 1986, the Burnished finish wasn't offered until 2006. This 2018-W Burnished Silver Eagle was struck at the West Point Mint. It has the same silver content as other coins of the series, this finish is offered just for collectors.
Iconic American Designs by Weinman and Mercanti
The date is on the obverse near the bottom. Liberty can be seen walking here while the stars and stripes flow around her. This is actually a classic design known as Walking Liberty, it was created by Adolph A. Weinman.
John Mercanti, who served as Chief Engraver of the U.S. Mint, designed the reverse. There are 13 stars and a heraldic bald eagle at the center of the design.
