Why purchase this 2018-W Burnished American Silver Eagle?
The U.S. Mint introduced the American Silver Eagle in 1986 in bullion and proof format, adding the burnished version to the series in 2006 in celebration of the 20th year of issue. Struck from 1 Troy oz. of .999 fine silver at the West Point Mint, this Burnished 2018-W Silver Eagle carries a "W" Mint mark.
Timeless Design of the American Silver Eagle
A full length image of Lady Liberty adorns the obverse wrapped in an American flag, gracefully striding towards the rising sun with a cluster of blooms cradled in her left arm. This design by Adolph A. Weinman first appeared on the 1916 Walking Liberty Half Dollar. Inscriptions include "LIBERTY," "2018" and "IN GOD WE TRUST."
A patriotic design created by John Mercanti is located on the obverse, featuring a heraldic eagle with thirteen stars above. Inscribed "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," "1 OZ. FINE SILVER," "ONE DOLLAR," "E PLURIBUS UNUM" and "W."
