Why add this First Releases 2018-W 1 oz. American Gold Eagle Proof coin to your collection?

The American Gold Eagle has been minted for more than thirty years, its imagery consistently featuring sculptor Augustus Saint-Gaudens' Lady Liberty design as struck on the U.S. $20 Gold Double Eagle coin from 1907 until the gold recall in 1933. This 2018 Gold Eagle was produced at the U.S. Mint in West Point, struck from 1 Troy oz. of .9167 fine gold with a flawless proof finish.

Lady Liberty as Envisioned by Saint-Gaudens

Encircled by fifty stars, Lady Liberty is illustrated on the obverse grasping an olive branch and torch, her hair and long gown flowing with her movement. The background radiates with the rays of the sun rising and includes the inscriptions "LIBERTY," "2018" and "W."

A stunning bald eagle is depicted on the reverse, its wings elegantly curved in active flight. The design by Miley Busiek includes the eagle's nesting family in the foreground.
