The likeness of George Washington appears on the obverse. The classically styled portrait sculpted by John Flanagan in 1932 is surrounded by the inscriptions "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," "LIBERTY," "IN GOD WE TRUST" and "QUARTER DOLLAR," with ".999 FINE SILVER 5.0 OUNCE" on the coin's smooth edge.

The coin has also been certified Deep Proof Like (DPL), possessing deeply mirrored fields and heavily frosted design elements on both sides. Submitted for grading within the first thirty days of release, the coin additionally earned the designation First Releases.
