Why purchase this Prooflike Gold 2018 Sh1,500 Tanzania Big 5 Lion Foil Note?
This Gold 2018 Sh1,500 Tanzania Big 5 Lion Prooflike Note Foil was issued as part of the new Big Five Gold Notes series. The name of the series comes from the term "big five game," which was coined by hunters to described the five animals that are toughest to hunt on foot. Safari companies later adopted the term for marketing purposes. Each note in the series was struck from 1 g of .999 fine gold and has a limited mintage of 1,500 pieces.
Powerful Lion Design
The obverse of this foil note is common to all five issues in the series. Honoring the national animal of Tanzania, it features three giraffes, shown in silhouette, wandering the savanna next to an acacia tree. Also included are the coat of arms of Tanzania, which is in the lower left, the face value twice, and the name of the issuing country.
On the reverse is a closeup image of a male lion shown in fine detail at a slight angle. A female is not far behind him, and a giraffe wanders in the distance.
Perfect GEM Unc 70
Paper Money Grading (PMG) awarded this foil note their highest grade, Uncirculated 70 (UNC 70). That means that its margins and registration appear flawless to the unaided eye and that it lacks any visible signs of handling that can be seen under 5x magnification.
