African Elephant Design
One of the notable "Big Five" Tanzanian big game animals, the African Elephant appears on the obverse of this note with a young elephant in the background. The reverse of the note features three giraffes silhouettes backlit by heat waves from the sun on the Savannah near an acacia tree. Giraffes are the Tanzanian national animal. The Tanzanian Coat of Arms appears on the left in a band with the denomination 1,500 shillings.
